Child Telemental Health Programs
Maryland Behavioral Health Integration in Pediatric Primary Care (BHIPP)
Founded in 2012, BHIPP supports the efforts of primary care clinicians to assess and manage the mental health needs of their patients from infancy through the transition to young-adulthood. Our services include phone consultations, resource and referral coordination, training, and a colocation internship in primary care for master’s level students. BHIPP is available free of charge to any pediatric primary care provider within the state of Maryland.

Maryland Behavioral Health Integration in Pediatric Primary Care: Training, Telehealth & Technical Assistance (BHIPP TTT)
In 2019, BHIPP received a supplemental HRSA grant to expand BHIPP services to further support the efforts of primary care clinicians through the provision of telemental health services. This program was renewed and expanded in 2023 and offers several telehealth services including: evaluation, care coordination, and records review. Additionally, a pilot of post-discharge care coordination supports families following their child’s visit to the emergency department for a mental health crisis.
Finally, three Project ECHO training series are offered to primary care and psychiatric providers. This expanded array of services aims to increase access to child and adolescent behavioral health services. A Project Advisory Committee has been assembled, comprised of pediatricians, behavioral health providers, state and local leaders, parents, and more to give ongoing feedback on BHIPP TTT services.
